7 things we loved about Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita

The Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita is one of the island’s most luxurious and sought after properties, and with good reason. The island attracts travellers looking for the best of the best, and this it delivers in spades.

We were recently privileged enough to spend a few days exploring this exquisite property as a family, and here are some of the things we loved most about our holiday:

1. Children are at top of mind

This was our first holiday travelling internationally as a family of three; naturally, we were nervous. However, the Four Seasons Mauritius resort did everything in their power to waylay those concerns by thinking of our toddler at every turn. She had a very own welcome drink waiting for on arrival, there was a crib, nappy bin, sterilizer, and baby toiletries kit waiting in our room, housekeeping asked what were the best times for room cleaning according to nap schedules, and they even had a baby sleeping sign for the door.

2. Our own private pool

Our room, or should I say Villa, at the Four Seasons Mauritius, had it’s very own private pool. This came in very handy when travelling with a little one as when she went down for her naps, we weren’t also room bound. We could step outside with the monitor onto our terrace and indulge in a glass of wine poolside, take a dip, or simply catch a tan while looking out over the impossibly blue waters of the lagoon.

3. Breakfasts to impress

The buffet breakfasts at the resort’s poolside Bambou restaurant beat most breakfast spreads anywhere in the world. You could have eggs poached to your liking with fresh salmon or smoked marlin, get a juice freshly squeezed from fruits of your choice, indulge in a selection of pastries, or even pick up some Asian cuisine such as noodles or dim sum. My go-to, however, was the pancake station, where waffles, pancakes, and crumpets were made fresh to order, with the chef even going out of his way to make ones in different shapes for our little girl.

4. A private beach escape

While the resort has numerous beaches and restaurants to choose from, we also loved the fact that we could hop into a complimentary speedboat and jet off to a private beach on a nearby island! With another bar, complete with swing chairs, and an on-the-beach grill restaurant, it was an experience to remember.

5. Italian food to die for

Did I mention the food yet? Well, I’m not done. One of the highlights of our stay at the Four Seasons Mauritius was dinner at the resort’s Acquapazza Restaurant. The menu was awash with delicious risottos, pizzas, and pasta of every shape and form. We ordered a selection of dishes to share, and each one was more delicious than the next. The setting was also pretty spectacular, set overhanging the lagoon with fish swimming right below your feet.

6. Activities a plenty

While we love suntanning and sipping cocktails just as much as the next person, we also enjoy getting out and doing something on our holidays. Thankfully, this resort had too many activities to choose from. While there is a fully-fledged 18-hole golf course on the property, we decided instead to explore on one of the resort’s complimentary bicycles before taking to the sea on a Hobie Cat – our daughter’s very first sail! And when nap time proved to be a bit of a struggle one day, we simply took out a two-man canoe for a kayak around the resort and into the mangroves with the gentle rhythm slowly rocking our little one to sleep.

7. The people make a place

With beautiful beaches, exquisite food, fun activities, and one of the best accommodation offerings on the island, it would be hard not to love the Four Seasons Mauritius at Anahita. But for us, one thing really stood above the rest, and that was the people. Everyone we spoke to had dedicated their life to this resort, with many employed there since it opened its doors. From the golf cart driver to the restaurant manager and the kid’s club entertainer, everyone greeted you with a smile, quickly became a firm friend, and treated my daughter as if she were their own. There are many reasons why I long to return to this resort, but those friendly, smiling faces are at the top of the list!
