Stay, wine, dine with Radisson Blu

Although they’ve only been opened for a year, the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence is leading the way when it comes to innovative offerings. Their new stay, wine and dine package offers a whole new dimension to a quick city break and we recently popped down to the hotel to see what all the fuss is about.

A fantastic welcome at the Radisson Blu in the heart of the city

Located in a towering edifice in the heart of Cape Town’s bustling city centre, the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence is so much more than a simple business hotel. Although unique touches like a lockable charging stations in the hotel’s bar give away the functionality that sits at the heart of this hotel, it also exudes personality, in no small part due to the amazing staff that run the place.

Welcomed by the marketing team of Wayne Ward and Fikile Kalimashe, no sooner had we checked in than we were off on a whirlwind exploration of the hotel’s breathtaking spaces. Oysters and champagne beckoned in the penthouse, cocktails called our name in The Sea Street Bar and Lounge, tasting trays delighted in The Stratus Room and delectable desserts capped off a fabulous evening in the Business Class Lounge – giving us a taste of what wining and dining with Radisson Blu is like.

With tummies bursting at the seams, an early night was in order as we were due to be up and at ’em at the crack of dawn, completing our wining and dining experience with a full day at Meerendal. Shiny new vehicles from Land Rover N1 City awaited us the next morning, ready to take us on the second part of our wining and dining adventure.

Ready for a day of wining and dining at Meerendal

Arriving at Meerendal we were shown the farm and even got to join in on some harvest festivities with grape picking and a tour of the cellar in action. After learning all about the science behind a good bottle of wine with cellarmaster Liza Goodwin, we enjoyed a VIP tasting experience where we enjoyed tasting some vintage wines made from the oldest Pinotage vines in the country. A three-course meal, with ever more wine, at Meerendal’s Crown Restaurant completed the experience, before sleepy heads made their way back to Radisson to check out.
