When I think of a wine weekend away, the things that come to mind are fancy restaurants, haute cuisine, opulent estates and, of course, lots for drinking wine. With the pandemic well and truly behind us, we found ourselves once again planning an international getaway. And having not seen the snow or strapped on our skis in almost five years, the slopes were calling. So, we had been tossing around ideas on which European ski destination to choose. And in the end, we settled on Italy and the town of Passo Tonale in the Pontedilegno-Tonale ski area.

It’s time for a family holiday and where better to visit than beautiful Durban? Monkeyland, a free-roaming primate sanctuary just outside Plettenberg Bay, has always been one of our must-visits anytime we are in the Garden Route. It’s an absolute privilege to be able to roam around the forests with monkeys big and small, learning a bit more about them, their habits and habitats in the wild.

So, when we recently found ourselves near Ballito in South Africa’s KwaZulu Natal Province, seeing the newly opened Monkeyland KZN just had to be on our list of things to do.
