After doing countless game drives in the Big Five reserves that dot the Waterberg area, having walked with bushbuck and listened to the sound of a Fish Eagle call over the valley, and even ticked off our bucket list the experience of horse riding with zebras, wildebeest, giraffe, jackals and rhinos, we were looking for the next big thing. And we found it at Waterberg Zipline. more “Unleashing our wild side in the Waterberg”

Scootouring Cape Town
When Dirty Boots invited me to join a day of adventure in the lead-up to South Africa’s very first adventure summit, it never crossed my mind that soon I would be blasting down the side of the mountain, feeling like a kid again, with a suped-up scooter beneath my feet. But that is exactly the experience that lay in store for me when I joined Scootours South Africa for an epic adventure experience I never even knew existed!
Country bumpkins in Greyton
Nestled alongside a river without an end and between majestic undulating mountains is a tiny town forgotten in time. It provides the perfect weekend escape from the hustle and bustle of city living in Cape Town and its quaint main street, lined with inns, coffee shops, and churches is a throwback to another era.

The perfect triad – Phuket, Phi Phi and Krabi
Thailand is infamous for offering a perfect budget beach getaway. Awesomely affordable, even in the best hotels, with cocktails served in coconuts all-day, clothing markets galore (arrive with an empty suitcase), street food stalls to make your mouth-water, white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters and palm-tree adorned islands, it’s a picture perfect destination that summons up all of those tropical cliché expressions. more “The perfect triad – Phuket, Phi Phi and Krabi”
What to expect on your first walking safari
Not every walking safari is created equal. From the introductory bush bumbles offered at luxury high-end lodges in the Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, to multi-day camping based walking trails through the heart of the Kruger National Park or the desert scorching safaris of the Kgalagadi, learning about the natural habitat from the ‡Khomani San inhabitants, each of South Africa’s walking safaris offer a unique experience. more “What to expect on your first walking safari”
Rustic rendezvous in Robertson
Often forgotten in favour of the more well-known wine routes or unheard of by tourists, the Robertson Wine Valley provides an off-the-beaten track experience where winemakers indulge visitors with long talks in cosy cellars and local chefs cook up a storm in quaint country kitchens. But every year, the Wacky Wine Weekend attracts wine lovers who flock to the region in search of a burst of bubbly, to savour a good glass of Sauvignon Blanc or to enjoy a lingering Pinotage on the palate. more “Rustic rendezvous in Robertson”
Meet five adorable rescued monkeys
Monkeyland, a wildlife sanctuary situated just outside of Plettenberg Bay in South Africa, provides a safe haven for 11 species of primates. These monkeys have been rescued from a captive life as pets in private homes, as attractions in zoos or as test subjects at various facilities, and are given a new lease on life at Monkeyland. Here these rescued primates are free to roam the sanctuary’s wild forest area, experiencing a life that is as close to wild as possible. more “Meet five adorable rescued monkeys”
A cake the size of an elephant!
When I was invited to the unveiling of a life-size elephant cake at the Good Food & Wine Show – the jokes were never ending… “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!” “We herd it’s amazing!” “Size is irrelephant!”
