Celebrating summer at Constantia Fresh

With the easing of South Africa’s COVID restrictions, we have seen a resurgence of festivals and gatherings, particularly as the weather is warm and we can all enjoy being in the great outdoors. The month of February in particular saw the return of the Constantia Fresh wine festival.

The ultimate in garden parties, Constantia Fresh was held on the lawns of the beautiful Buitenverwachting wine festival. Showcasing wine farms from all over the Western Cape, it is an event that is at the top of of many a social calendar.

But it’s not just world famous wines and delicious MCCs that could be enjoyed at this year’s Constantia Fresh. The festival also brought out some of the country’s best gin, rum, and liqueur crafters. And don’t forget about the great food offered by some of the top restaurants in the Constantia Wine Valley and surrounding areas.

Unlike some other of the Cape Winelands’ festivals, all food and tastings were included in the ticket price. That said, if you plan on adding this event to your calendar next year be sure to get there early as it is very popular and you don’t want to miss out on experiencing the scrumptious food that is on offer.

Apart for the food and wine there was also live music. Those that arrived early may have been lucky enough to find a table, but for us, we just enjoyed kicking off our shoes, and settling down under the shade of Buitenverwachting’s majestic oak trees to enjoy some good food and wine on a sunny afternoon. Bliss! s
